| Sunday - Fun in Singapore and lunch with the president I am tired. It has been a long day and I am going to bed early. This morning started with an hour of inline skating at Bishan Park. Then I rushed over to Mambo Kings, a local Latin club, for Samba and Lambada lessons. Dancing was fun and quite the aerobic exercise. The instructor was from Brazil and his girlfriend showed up to watch. She happens to be a video jockey for MTV in Asia. Afterwards, I went to Alina's grandparent's house for dinner. Alina's extended family has dinner there every weekend. Not everybody shows up, except on special occasions, but it is a good way to keep the family interacting. Friday I had lunch with Lehigh University's incoming president, Greg Farrington. He is quite the amusing man. I am ecstatic that he is at the helm of Lehigh. I never met the past president during my four years at Lehigh. If I was there for the next four years, that would not happen. This president is committed to spending time with students (the most important Lehigh customer). Farrington is an e-mail freak and understands the importance of technology in education and in general. He visited Singapore for some University of Pennsylvania business. Apparently, he managed to be in Singapore for three days without attaining local currency so I covered the cab rides and the North Indian lunch at Boat Quay (locally pronounced boat key). As a recent college grad on vacation without a job I did not expect to treat the president of a university to taxi rides. :) But, that makes for quite a story. He even listened to me rant for hours about Lehigh and he was so enthusiastic about it. Go figure. I am off to bed. Write me some e-mail. - Elan P.S. I renamed Cache for Dummies to Cache for Blockheads to make IDG Books happy so they do not sue my friends and me for using the "... For Dummies" trademark.
